About Jon Kittleson
Hello. My name is JON KITTLESON. I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I have been studying and producing art since I was a junior in high school back in 1999. I discovered my art accidentally in middle school, after receiving a wrestling injury. It ended my sports career and left me partially paralyzed on the left side. Fortunately, I had really good art instructors in high school and they helped develop my interest in art. After high school I went to Tidewater Community College where I received my Associate's Degree in Graphic Arts.
I believe that my art represents the power to overcome any challenge, mental or physical. My college Art History Professor, Rhonda Deussen, described my style as reminiscent of Matisse and Chagall. She also described my art as new and bold. She found my approach to my subjects to be both original and fresh. My first individual Solo Art show was at the Virginia Beach Central Library in 2004. I displayed fourteen original Art works during the month of March. I was very blessed to have sold half of the Art works within the month. I have been living in St. Ansgar, Iowa since October 2006. I have moved to Austin, MN with my wife as of 2016.
Art for me is a form of therapy. I really enjoy creating art. I thank the Lord for giving me such talent. In the past several years, I had more health issues. I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN off and on. I have been diagnosed with a genetic disorder known as Rapid onset Dystonia Parkinsonism (RDP). As of October 2008, I was forced to leave Grain Millers Inc. in St. Ansgar, Iowa for medical reasons.
I've been blessed as an artist to locate my target audience as a pet portrait artist.
I use PrismaColor pencils to create a one of kind portraits.
